Drawn2Learn’s curriculum encompasses a full range of lessons for preschoolers: writing letters and numbers, recognizing sight words, practicing meaningful exercises that correlate to the letter and number of the week, and recognizing and affirming feelings in order to in-crease self-regulation and awareness of the feelings of others. Additionally, there are lessons regarding the calendar, weather, seasonal activities, and more.
This creative approach to learning centers around the use of an individual, erasable workbook for each child; through the use of dry erase markers, the children can readily recognize and erase errors to quickly try again on a freshened page. Furthermore, understanding that children are receptive to incorporating mindfulness into their daily lives, this curriculum offers meditation, visualization, and yoga activities that draw upon evidence-based practice which demonstrates that breathing exercises and meditation increase a feeling of calm for very young children.

I have had the opportunity to observe the use of these instructional materials in several preschool classrooms and have been extremely impressed with the children’s enthusiastic responses. Additionally, the workbook and materials are prepared for an academic calendar reducing the need for the classroom instructor to have to set aside time to create weekly lesson plans.
The parent workbook is an essential tool to strengthen the school-parent bond that is known to be supportive of children’s learning objectives. Parents can reinforce lessons presented at school since they have their own workbooks to follow along as the lessons unfold.
The preschool years are critical to the success carried into elementary and secondary education; this preschool curriculum certainly provides a firm foundation for success throughout the educational experience of a child.

Drawn2Learn is much more than an outstanding preschool curriculum; it is a connection of curriculum and social emotional learning when partnered together enable children to grow academically and socially at a young age.
Social-emotional learning (SEL), as defined by the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL) is “the process through which children and adults acquire and effectively apply the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary to understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions.”
Five Competencies of SEL
- Self-awareness: Know your strengths and limitations, with a well-grounded sense of confidence, optimism, and a “growth mindset”
- Self-management: Effectively manage stress, control impulses, and motivate yourself to set and achieve goals
- Social awareness: Understand the perspectives of others and empathize with them, including those from diverse backgrounds and cultures
- Relationship skills: Communicate clearly, listen well, cooperate with others, resist inappropriate social pressure, negotiate conflict constructively, and seek and offer help when needed
- Responsible decision-making: Make constructive choices about personal behavior and social interactions based on ethical standards, safety, and social norms

I personally have been in the field of education for over 35 years as a Teacher, Principal, Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum, Superintendent, Chief Academic Officer and Executive Director of Student Enrollment. My experiences with children that have difficulties in the classroom all have the same root cause, lack of positive social-emotional learning. It is quite rewarding to see that Drawn2Learning incorporates both the Preschool Standards and Social Emotional Learning into one curriculum for preschool age children.
Students that are exposed to the lessons will have the foundational skills necessary for emotional development that will result in accelerated academic growth. Drawn2Learn is the only curriculum that is designed for the Pre-K child that will truly impact the child for life.
